WARNING: Spoilers ahead. Duh.
Maggy the Frog
“Everyone wants to know their future, until they know their future.”
Ahhh yes, the infamous Maggy the Frog prophecy. Maggy the Frog was only on screen for this scene in the entire run of the series but that prophecy has been in Cersei’s mind for pretty much her entire adult life. Funny how the showrunners put that twist on the valonqar in the end…
“It’s not an easy thing admitting to yourself what you really are.”
This is a dark-ass quote. Only you know who you really are. Might as well admit it. Ha.
“All men must die. But we are not men.”
Sort of ironic given Daenarys’ ending in the show. And how TERRIBLY the showrunners wrote off Missandei from the show. I won’t get into the details because many other writers have. But alas, our Dragon Queen could not survive a knife to the heart.
“I may be small. I may be a girl, but I won’t be knitting by the fire while I have men fight for me.”
ALL HAIL LYANNA MORMONT. This girl puts old men in the North to SHAME. I miss her dutiful, determined spirit. But she did have a badass death scene.
Brienne of Tarthhttps://tenor.com/embed.js
“All my life, men like you’ve sneered at me, and all my life I’ve been knocking men like you into the dust.”
…Which I feel is what Brienne should’ve done to Jaime when he left her in Winterfell. But it’s too late to knock him into the dust.
“I am Sansa Stark of Winterfell. This is my home. And you can’t frighten me.”
My girl Sansa came such a long way. She had the best character development on the show: from a bratty teenager dreaming of a royal life to a grown, smart woman holding her own. Now, there have been several occasions on the show where I felt the showrunners and writers did her dirty. But… Sansa is and always will be a survivor. You can’t frighten this wolf queen.
“I am a wolf and will not be afraid.”
Arya had an interesting journey. From Arya Stark of Winterfell to a girl with no name. Then back to Arya Stark of Winterfell. She worked her ass off to become this ninja assassin and it took losing her identity for a little bit to get to that point.
“I should wear the armor, and you the gown.”
There’s so much to unpack from this quote from Cersei when she says it to her late husband Robert Baratheon way back in season one. From the moment we met her, Cersei was cunning. She was manipulative. She knew exactly how to play the game of thrones. But she was born a woman. So she had to be married off. She had to wear dresses; she had to be in the shadows of men. Though, she eventually got to power but that was short-lived.
“Why would a girl see blood and collapse? … Girls see more blood than boys!”
FOR REALS THOUGH.
“There’s only one hell, Princess. The one we live in now.”
Melisandre made A LOT of mistakes on the show and it cost so many lives. RIP Shereen Baratheon. This quote resonated with me because it’s a reminder that, regardless of your religion or lack of religion, we live in the now. We live in the present. Life throws us curveballs. Life throws shit at us. We can only deal with the present. Our present can be quote a hell.
“I’ve known a great many clever men. I’ve outlived them all. You know why? I ignored them.”
Don’t underestimate this woman. She saw right through people’s shit and got shit done. The Queen of Thorns Olenna Tyrell, may she RIP, gets the MVP Award for Best Grandmother on the show. This woman is conniving but she will do whatever it takes to protect her grandchildren. She was briefly on Daenarys’ council, and this quote that she says to her just reminds us of her wisdom and her fierce determination.
