Where in the world has Carmen Sandiego been for the past few decades? And who exactly is Carmen Sandiego? Netflix recently brought to life the educational animated kids series, Carmen Sandiego. The media franchise of the same name was first introduced as a video game in 1985. Since then, there were many kids game shows to teach world geography. The Netflix series released Jan. 18 and serves as an origin story from Carmen Sandiego’s perspective of her capers.

Carmen Sandiego is a modern-day Robin Hood traveling the globe and stealing from V.I.L.E. (Villain’s International League of Evil) and giving back to its victims. Carmen is publicly perceived as a criminal by most law enforcement agencies – correction, make that a master criminal due to the sheer scale and theatricality of her heists. We will follow her escapades and get to determine not only where but who in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
