Frame Fatales Strikes Again

Some of you may remember my previous article about Frame Fatales. Well, the time has come for the second ever Frame Fatales event.

What is Frame Fatales Again?

Frame Fatales is an initiative from Games Done Quick that creates a safe and inclusive community for female speedrunners everywhere. The second event will take place from August 18-22 — you can watch online here.

I’d like to talk about some of the speedruns I’m most excited for in order of their scheduled times.

Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie

What better way is there to celebrate the addition of Banjo and Kazooie to Super Smash Bros. than watching speedruns of the two classic games that brought the beloved characters about? Speedrunners Nylume and Phantessma will do the honors of showcasing the ins and outs of how to beat these games faster than you probably thought was possible. Who doesn’t want to see a bear and a bird take on some evil monsters and fight an unforgiving witch?

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is one of my all-time favorite speedruns to watch. It’s amazing seeing this game that took me forever to play as a kid (and ultimately never finish) beaten in the amount of time it took me to figure out what to do in one day in the game. You won’t want to miss this game! Especially if it was as big of a part of your childhood as it was mine.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The last game I mentioned leads me into my favorite game of all time. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a game filled with so many glitches and tricks that it’s truly unbelievable. This game is the first game I ever watched a speedrun of. Follow along as speedrunner xwillmarktheplace beats this classic game and returns peace to Hyrule in around an hour.

Super Mario Odyssey

I’ll go ahead and admit it: I’ve never watched a Super Mario Odyssey speedrun. I know what you’re thinking: “Misty, how can you be excited for something you’ve never even seen?” Well, I’ll tell you why. I’m mostly excited to see this speedrun because I haven’t seen it before. I didn’t watch speedruns of this game for the longest time, because I hadn’t finished my own personal playthrough of Super Mario Odyssey. Now that I’m finished, I’m more excited to see speedrunner Pinkish take on each of these worlds. This is my favorite Mario game ever, and I can only imagine this speedrun will become one of my favorites to watch in the ongoing future.

Snowboard Kids

Here to round off my list of speedruns I’m most excited is a classic game I played as a kid. This snowboard racing game helped me live my dreams of snowboarding when I didn’t have the chance to as a kid (spoiler alert: I still haven’t been). Looking back, I’m not sure I’d be able to handle this type of snowboarding. With courses covered in items to use against your opponents, I can’t imagine being knocked down by a pin while trying to go as fast as I can down the slopes. This game is full of twists and turns, and speedrunner 1upGirlXaltis is sure to show them off in an exciting way.

This Frame Fatales is going to be a good one, and I personally can’t wait to see all the hype around it leading up to and during the event. Find the full schedule online at https://bit.ly/2ZwvXnd.
