Tuca & Bertie

The Bingeables Podcast: ‘Tuca & Bertie’

If you have not watched the Netflix animated comedy series Tuca & Bertie, stop right there. Go binge it. Then come back, please! Created by Lisa Hanawalt and derived from the universe of Bojack Horseman, the show is about women for women created by women.

Tuca & Bertie premiered on Netflix on May 3. But about 2.5 months later on July 24, Netflix canceled the series only after one season. The cancellation comes as a major sting to fans and women creators, as there are few animated series created by women.

Tune in to the episode!

Are we ever getting Tuca & Bertie season 2?

Probably not. Even though some shows have revived from fan protests and petitions such as Timeless on NBC or Lucifer on Fox then Netflix.

While the first season wrapped up its story arcs fairly well with little-to-no cliffhangers, we still yearn for a second season.

  • How will Bertie and Speckle navigate the next chapter of their relationship?
  • How will Tuca adjust to spending more time with her family?
  • Is Pastry Pete gone for good?

I would also like to see more about our supporting characters. Having an episode dedicated to the backstory of Aunt Tallulah would give more insight about her character and perhaps paralleling it with Tuca deciding to go sober would work. An episode from the POV of Speckles would be nice too.
